One Little Person
Numbers can tell a story. At TEEG, we look at them all the time to measure the success of the work we do. How many lives did we touch? How much did we receive? How many pounds of groceries were collected? How much time was donated? The ways to count TEEG’s impact are endless.
In looking at the numbers, it also is clear to see how much we depend on volunteers and donors to do the work we do. Every contribution – no matter
the size – makes a difference. We provide the space and opportunity for change to happen, and the community consistently shows up in force. TEEG’s
job, is to then combine and compound the incredible amount of good that is entrusted to us.
From mentoring youth, to helping in our markets, from cleaning up after our ASAP Camp, to weeding our gardens, TEEG volunteers are the ones who keep our programs running and our staff supported. When we ask for a particular type of food, locals stock the TEEG markets with bags of it. When we put out a call for Back-to-School supplies, groups, individuals, and donors rush in with backpacks, pens, lunch boxes, and crayons.
Similarly, our donors and funders are counted on for financial support. Opening the morning mail to receive a grant award, sponsorship, or check in
any amount from a neighbor is like a hug. It validates our work and enables us to further our mission.
I am often asked, “How do you do so much with such a small workforce?” While I am tempted to say it’s magic, the truth is we could never do it without the community of volunteers and donors that assist our staff in so many ways.
As you read It All Adds Up, you will see that every contribution to TEEG is needed and valued. We hope you will join us in our work, knowing that we
are grateful for each and every one of you, each and every day.
With hope and gratitude,
Executive Director
